Erin Kestenbaum’s outdoor DIY dining table

release the power tools!

Wouldn’t it be great if you had an infinite budget to do all the things your heart could ever desire? Most of us will never be so lucky, which is why we have DIYs. Budget and space limitations are a real thing and sometimes you can’t call in the pros. Or maybe you like getting your hands dirty and want to do everything yourself (hello, it me!). Whatever the reason, DIYs are a great way to add pride of home to your space and a wonderful feeling of accomplishment (you did it!). Read on for a round up of some of the best outdoor DIYs on the internet.

tackle your problem areas

What’s the main thing that’s keeping you from enjoying your outdoor space? Start there and everything else will fall into place. Maybe you’re all about entertaining and you’d love to serve dinner to your friends on your patio but all the dining tables you like are big bucks and you don’t got that money, honey. Follow in the steps of Erin Kestenbaum’s totally fab and traditional outdoor dining table. Erin wasn’t willing to brake the bank for a high-end table and she was disappointed by the quality and lack of style of the more affordable options. So she built her own! If that sounds like a dilemma you’d like to solve yourself, check out her post detailing how she did it. She and her husband are the DIY dream team, so make sure to check out all her DIY posts (hello, their kitchen is major Insta famous for a reason!).

Maybe you have a table already and it’s seating that’s your problem. In that case, I kindly invite you to check out Sarah Gibson from Room for Tuesday’s stuccoed bench tutorial. Get the look of a super expensive custom outdoor couch with only a few supplies. Be prepared to bring the muscle, though, because cinderblocks are heavy as fuck, y’all.

Could it be that you have a balcony or patio that has, like, zero privacy? There are definitely options for you, my friend. If you’re into plant vibes, then try this DIY from Room Sauce. Bev needed to add some much needed privacy to her patio but didn’t want to add more fencing to an area that already had several hard surfaces. The idea for her plant wall was born. Perhaps, though, you do actually want a fence, but you don’t have the funds right now for the real deal or you can’t because of apartment or condo limitations. Or maybe you have a long stretch of ugly cinderblock walls that you want to break up, visually speaking. If that’s the case, I suggest you look into adding some Ikea Äpplarö panels where needed. They’re inexpensive and versatile and a great option for those dipping their toe into the DIY world.

Speaking of dipping your toe…Pools are expensive and require a ton of space which is why most people have to forgo their dreams of a sunny day by the water. But what if I told you that you could totally make that dream a reality? Don’t believe me, huh? Then check out Emerson Grey’s stock tank tutorial and I’ll make a believer out of you yet. If you’re a person who just can’t live without any aquatic lounging option, this is the one for you.
