well, well, well - what have we here?

Sugar and spice and everything nice? Of course you can have it all at your Halloween bash! The trick, obviously, is in having deliciously good treats. Whether you’re serving kiddos knocking on your door and huddling on the couch hiding behind a blanket because you’re watching a movie that was a *wee* bit scarier than expected, you’re still going to need some great munchies to get you through the evening. Here we’ve listed some frightfully good savories and sweets to satisfy every craving you might have throughout the night.

sweet treats

Dessert first?! Why not? It’s the one time of year that it’s totally socially acceptable for kids and adults to eat their meals in reverse. Who cares if you get a sugar coma, you only live once. In case you tire of pilfering from your trick-or-treat bucket, here are some ideas for sweet treats that provide a little more to nibble on.

From Jack-o-lantern pumpkin hand pies to spooky black and white macarons, there are plenty of options to spark some ghoulish fun. Let’s start with the Jack-o-lantern pumpkin hand pies from Acorns & Custard. There’s a little witchcraft involved with getting these just right, so maybe don’t try this at home if you’re new to the baking scene. Next are these gorgeous black and white macarons. They’re certainly chic. If that doesn’t float your boat, what about these adorably spooky ghost fudge bars, created with clever marbling? If that doesn’t do it for you, then these skeleton men from Hummingbird High must! The cuteness factor is electrifying! Almost too cute to eat.

a blood sucking good time

But what about the non-sugary fare, you know, real food? Fear not, friends, we have you covered! For starters, make sure you have some clever menus up your sleeves. Why not try doing some calligraphy on a gorgeous, giant pumpkin? The Merrythought thought outside the box, or dare we say, coffin, for this one! It’s so easy, all you need is a little paint (and maybe some calligraphy skills). Nothing says slithery like black spaghetti, am I right?! Creep out your guests in the best way possible with this recipe, aptly named Witches’ Hair

But you’re going to have to start with snacks and apps, right? There’s no logical reason why you can’t have a good old-fashioned charcuterie board - just make sure you throw in a skeleton piece or two for good measure. Of course, you’ll have to serve black bean chili out of carved mini white pumpkins - I mean how could you not? Clearly, you have lots of options here is all we’re saying.
