Welcome to the first in our series of holiday gift guides! We’re starting with a topic that’s totally in vibe with all things California lifestyle. Maybe it’s a cliché, maybe it’s not. But what would be the point of a blog about living the California dream if we didn’t have a holiday gift roundup devoted to the beach?! I mean, really. Whether you’re looking for a present for the habitual surfer in your life or someone who loves to daydream about a seaside getaway, we’ve got some pretty fab ideas for you!

Get the look

  1. Surf Haus Candle from Saltura, $34 - This candle is a limited edition run for the launch of Surf Shack: Laid-Back Living by the Water, launched in April 2017. Hand-poured in Los Angeles, the candle is made from 100% coconut wax, providing a naturally clean, crisp average burn time of 70+ hours. Packaged in a reusable glass jar and environmentally-friendly kraft container.

  2. Jacobsen Salt Tin from Williams Sonoma, $3.95 - A sprinkling of high-quality salt can make any dish simply sing. For its flavorful finishing salts, Jacobsen Salt Co. gathers water from the rugged Oregon coastline. Using custom methods, the water is slowly evaporated until it naturally forms light, delicate salt crystals, which are hand harvested and dried, creating coarse pyramid-shaped flakes with complex flavor. These petite tins of Jacobsen’s signature sea salt slip easily into a bag, pocket or purse to have on hand to elevate your next meal on the go.

  3. Brown Coral Tray from John Derian, $185 - John Derian decoupage is a classic for a reason - they are timeless, whimsical, and gorgeous! Their decoupage is handmade to order in their New York studio using reproduced imagery from Derian's vast collection of antique and vintage prints. Trained artisans cut and collage their designs onto handblown glass. These pieces will never go out of style.

  4. Brass Palm Tree Bottle Opener from West Elm, $36 - This tropically fun piece will surely get the conversation (and booze) running smoothly. Take this brass bottle opener to the tropics—or just your next backyard barbecue. It comes in a box for easy gifting - yay!

  5. Night Ship Kite from Haptic Lab, $76 - Get carried away with this super sailing ship kite. Each hand-crafted kite from Haptic Lab is a functional work of art. With 4 tiered sails and more surface area, this big ship flies better than most kites. They also make beautiful decorations displayed indoors because honestly, that’s some major dough to be dropping on a kite.

  6. Elektra Sandal from Mythologia, $195 - This simple and classically chic slip-on sandal is made from vegetable tanned and pony hair leather. These gorgeous shoes are handmade in Greece and surely will make you daydream about idle holiday hours traipsing around on sunny sands.

  7. Palm Tree Cocktail Napkins from Lettermade, $48 - Get ready for a splash of something tropical with Lettermade’s embroidered rendition of a classic palm tree! This set of four is made from linen and is machine washable, plus they are embroidered in the US with bleach safe thread. No party fouls here!

  8. Bedford Tray from Serena & Lily, $198 - A caned design with lovely openwork details serves things up with a touch of tradition and tropical flair. Finished with handles for easy entertaining. Form meets function here - use on a coffee table to collect remotes and candles or to serve breakfast in bed (one can dream, at least!).

  9. Gold Seashell Salt Dish from ABC Carpet & Home, $56 - For your bougie beach-loving friend who has everything. Cast from a real seashell, this handmade salt dish features a glimmering gold overlay. Be it sea or table salt (maybe the Jacobsen from above?), this beach-inspired dish provides the perfect display. Spoon and dish sold together.

  10. Mockingbird Radio from Crosley, $60 - Tweet along to music anywhere you go (read: the beach) with the charming Mockingbird AM/FM radio. Perfectly content to take wing outside thanks to a soft-touch carry strap and optional battery operation, or happy to take roost inside with an AC adapter.

  11. Wave Spray from Ouai, $26 - What’s this, you may ask? Why, it’s weightless texture hair mist infused with rice protein to add hold for effortlessly chic, undone hair. The fragrance is North Bondi—a beautiful floral fragrance with notes of bergamot, Italian lemon, rose de mai, violet, and white musk. Perfect for hair that screams “Yes, I did just come from an early morning surfing at the beach, how did you know?”

  12. Laguna Candle from Voluspa, $18 - You can never have too many candles - never! This scent brings together images of velvet sand and dazzling azure seas with a fresh blend of California verbena and white freesia and gentle Santa Ana winds that pull warm desert air to meet the pacific. Voluspa candles are hand-poured in the US from sustainable, ecologically sound, pesticide-free manufacturing. The candle features a coconut wax blend and a 100% cotton wick.
